The IAYN steering group has continued to meet by teleconference and email on a regular basis to facilitate its work. In so doing the actual fraternity of the membership is developed and sustained thereby allowing the ministry to be realized .
The IAYN, with the creative energy and staff of the ACC Communications Office, developed a web page on the Anglican Communion website. The web page, in keeping with the overall look of the website, includes such things as photos, historical documents, current meeting notes and decisions, responses to the Windsor Report and the Anglican Covenant, notices of events for young people around the Communion and contact information. An IAYN newsletter, edited by Dessordi Leite, Brazil, is produced from time to time with electronic versions posted to the web site.
The IAYN gathered for its triennial meeting at High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon, England from September 2-7, 2007 with representatives from around the Communion. A new way of working was developed to include two persons from each of the five regions: Asia: Kei Izekumi (Japan), Insar Gohar (Pakistan); Oceania: The Revd John Hebenton (Aotearoa/New Zealand), The Revd Steven Schwarzrock (Australia); Africa: Odwa Gonya (Southern Africa), Evans Gogonya (Sudan); Europe and the Middle East: The Revd Samuel Barhoum (Jerusalem), David Brown (Ireland); Americas: The Revd Dessordi Leite (Brazil), The Revd Sally Sue Hernandez (Mexico). The Revds Peter Ball (England) and Douglas Fenton (United States) continue as Co-Administrators of the Network. Neven Abu Rahmoon (Jerusalem) was named as the IAYN representative to the APJN.
A response to the Anglican Covenant was prepared and approved unanimously. It was sent to the General Secretary and was posted on the IAYN web site.
Planning was facilitated for a presence at Lambeth Conference 2008. Deirdre Martin attended the meeting to outline the joy and frustrations of other networks in the Communion. Sue Parks offered possibilities for the IAYN to engage in a meaningful way with the bishops and spouses at Lambeth Conference 2008.
At present the hope is to offer a video loop created from footage collected by Provincial Youth Officers to highlight the work and ministry be done by and with young people around the Communion, self-select seminars to provide hands-on spiritual practices that can support young people, a contemplative spot for bishops to be ministered to by youth officers and a discussion panel to bring bishops and young people together to hear how the church can support and respond to young people.
The Youth Network is supported by contributions from provinces. Each province is asked to make an annual contribution. Many have not done so.
